Scouting in Malta first began in 1908 when Robert Baden Powell brought the movement he had just begun in the UK to their overseas colonies. In 1966, following the country gaining its independence, The Scouting Association of Malta began and quickly became a full independent member of WOSM.

Malta is a southern European Island lying 80km south of Italy in the Mediterranean sea. Malta is the world’s 10th smallest and 5th most densely populated sovereign country! The city of Valletta, the countries capital, is recognised by UNESCO as being one of the most concentrated historical areas in the world.
