Who are we looking for?
People who are at the age between 18 and 30, citizens of the European Union country (or with legal status of resident in of any of the EU countries), enthusiastic about Scouting and Guiding and keen to learn a lot of new things and prepare with us the amazing event.
What do we offer?
10 months (November 2020 – August 2021) in Poland in the Jamboree Planning Team which will give you possibility to learn about promotion, logistics, translations, planning activities, cooperation with other organizations, possibility to participate in the European Jamboree 2020 +1 where you will have a chance to meet people from all Europe, and not only.

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS FROM

The Host Organisation of the European Jamboree 2020 +1, Związek Harcerstwa Polskiego (The Polish Scouting & Guiding Association) is looking forward to welcome two long term volunteers ready to help in developing and delivering the European Jamboree and promote values and message of the European Jamboree.
The Jamboree will gather more than 15,000 scouts and guides from Europe and other regions of WOSM and WAGGGS. The Jamboree is an educational event focused on personal development of young people, supported by adults volunteers – the International Service Team. The Jamboree will be held in Gdansk on Sobieszewska Island. Main programme theme of the Jamboree is “Act!” – scouts and guides will be encourage to discover their strengths and take real actions towards their local societies. Vast majority of the programme activities will be connected with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
The European Jamboree is a joint event of the World Organization of the Scout Movement and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, hosted by the ZHP in Gdansk under the auspices of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.
The volunteers will work in the Jamboree Office together with professional staff and members of the Jamboree Planning Team. Main tasks areas will be connected with Contingent Support, Educational Programme Development, Communications, Translation Services and delivering activities to young ZHP members.
The volunteers will help in a creative way shaping the European Jamboree and its relations with key stakeholders of the Jamboree Organisation: the National Contingents, Participants and Media.
Due to the pandemic of COVID-19 the European Jamboree has been rescheduled to Summer 2021.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
The volunteers are hosted in the volunteers’ house shared amongst several young people of different cultures. When the activities require the volunteer to commute to the working place, the hosting organisation provides the reimbursement of any transportation expenses.
After moving to Gdansk for the period of delivery of the Jamboree, the volunteers will be hosted in the hotel/ hostel, the same facility as the European Jamboree Staff, at the same conditions.
This role may require participation in meetings and events held in different locations in Poland and/or in other European countries. In this case the Jamboree Organisation provides transportation, accommodation and board for the volunteers.
TRAINING DURING THE PROJECT
The Jamboree Organisation provides support and training in the area of social animation, intercultural education, communication and non-formal methodology. Depending on the volunteer’s interest the Jamboree Organisation may also offer training or practical experience in other areas such as coordination, administration, public relations or organisation of big scale events.
The following characteristics complete the profile of the volunteer:
- Creative thinking including the ability to propose solutions to respond to communications challenges and communications priorities
- Very good English level, literacy in Arabic, French, Spanish and/or Russian will be an asset
- Strong work ethic, ability to work as a productive and positive member of a team
- Scouting on a national and/or international level is desirable International and/or multicultural environment would be considered an asset
- Capable of meeting tight deadlines and short timeframes
- Experience in planning and delivering activities to young people would be an asset
- Basic experience with Content Management Systems
- Understanding of Scout Method and world policies on Educational Programme and Adults in Scouting and Guiding
- Ambition for continuous learning and personal development
- Capable of working with Scout volunteers at national, regional and global levels
- Willing to occasionally travel overseas and work in evenings and weekends as required
- Accuracy and attention to details
- Open minded with an problem solution approach
- Able to organise their own work
- Not afraid to ask for help
- Flexible and willing to adapt to changing situation
