From July 27th to August 6th 2020, the Sobieszewska Island in Gdańsk will turn into the capital of global scouting. All thanks to the European Jamboree, which is being hosted by three organisations: The Polish Scouting and Guiding Association (ZHP), World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and World Organisation of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

Impulse to change the world for the better
The event will be held under the slogan “Act!”, which will encourage its participants to start acting for environmental protection. The world meeting on Wyspa Sobieszewska will be a place where Scouts and Guides from around the world will be inspired to actively implement the slogan “think globally, act locally”. The events activities will be based on the Sustainable Development Goals adopted in 2015 by 193 UN Member States.
Call to action: an innovative program
The modular program will be based on three pillars: wake up, look around, act. Wake up will help participants discover their potential and improve their skills. Look around is about getting to know the challenges in the modern world in relation to local activities. Finally, Act encourages participants to use their newly acquired knowledge and skills in everyday activities.
International brotherhood festival
In the summer of 2020, Scouts and Guides from around the world will gather on Sobieszewska island to explore and celebrate the friendship, solidarity and values universally shared by all members of the Scout and Guide movements. During the fortnight of the European Jamboree the participants will explore a range of topics all focused on the Jamboree’s core premise which is to meet people who are focused on the common goal of building a better world.
The European Jamboree 2020 in Gdansk will be a unique event. For the first time in the history of global scouting, representatives of scout organisations associated in WOSM (World Organisation of the Scout Movement) and WAGGGS (World Organisation of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts) will meet together. The event will return to Europe after 14 years so that a new generation of Scouts and Guides experience the adventure of a lifetime.
